Love Painting

My 3 year old wanted to make a birthday present for a family friend so we came up with this painting. My little gal was so proud of her personalized birthday present 🙂


  • canvas (canvas size will be determined by size of child’s hand and feet)
  • pallette
  • paint brushes
  • paint (I used a glitter for the base and metallic for letters)
  • a child’s hand and both feet 🙂
  • permanent marker


  1. Paint the base using 4 different colors.
  2. Once dry, make the letters using different colored paint.
  3. Write child’s name and date painting was made on back with permanent marker.



Clam Chowder

My family loves getting a bread bowl of clam chowder on our trips to San Francisco or Disneyland so I decided to make some at home. With so many recipes it was a bit overwhelming! I started with this Easy Clam Chowder recipe from that turned out awesome 🙂


  • 5 slices bacon, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup vegetable stock
  • 2 (6.5-ounce) cans chopped clams, juices reserved
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup half and half
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves


  1. Cook bacon until crispy then transfer to paper towel lined plate making sure to keep 1 tablespoon of bacon fat.
  2. Add bacon grease and butter to a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat to melt butter.
  3. Mix in garlic and onion, stirring frequently, until onions have become translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Stir in thyme until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Whisk in flour until lightly browned, about 1 minute.
  6. Gradually whisk in milk, vegetable stock, clam juice and bay leaf, whisking constantly, until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Stir in potatoes.
  8. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  9. Stir in half and half and clams; simmer 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  10. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  11. Serve immediately garnished with bacon and parsley.


BBQ Drumsticks

BBQ sauce + chicken drumsticks + crockpot = fall off the bone goodness 🙂


  • 8-10 chicken drumsticks
  • 18 ounce bottle Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • salt
  • pepper


  1. Season drumsticks with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
  2. Place chicken into crockpot.
  3. Pour in BBQ sauce.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours.


Simple Salisbury Steak

I am always looking for great tasting recipes that reheat well so my wife can take leftovers for her lunch. This Simple Salisbury Steak recipe from is perfect for both 🙂



  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • salt
  • pepper


  • 2 packets brown gravy mix
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 teaspoon ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce


  1. In a large bowl, combine all patty ingredients.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Use your hands to mix ingredients well and form patties.
  4. Cook patties on both sides until no longer pink then lower temperature to low heat.
  5. Whisk together gravy mix and water until well blended.
  6. Mix ketchup and worcestershire into gravy.
  7. Pour gravy over patties in skillet and simmer until gravy thickens.
  8. I served with mashed potatoes and broccoli to complete the meal 🙂


Baked Chicken Drumsticks

In my family, the leg is the most sought after piece in a bucket of fried chicken. I bought a large family pack of drumsticks on sale the other day and ran into a problem…I have no recipes so I created a few easy ones 🙂


  • 8-10 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • smoked paprika
  • salt
  • pepper
  • large ziploc bag


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Put chicken and oil in ziploc bag making sure the drumsticks get lightly coated.
  3. Place chicken in 9×13 baking dish then season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Flip and season chicken.
  6. Bake additional 20-25 minutes.
